Can you believe that Term 1 has come to an end! It seems like only yesterday that we were back in Week 1 welcoming our new Kindy and Year 7 classes. It has been a huge term and I hope that as you enter the holiday period, you are looking forward to hopefully spending some extra time with family and friends. Before the term ends, let me take the opportunity to update you on a few key happenings around PCS.
New High School Building
We are so close to completing this amazing new facility. You will have noticed a significant amount of activity around the site in recent weeks as we look to complete the final stages of the build. It is our intention that classes will commence in the new building from the first day of next term. I am so excited for all our students to start using this new facility and will look forward to hosting an ‘Open Afternoon’, where parents and friends can come and look for yourselves at what we have been able to achieve over these past 18 months.
New Car Park
Our car park is now complete! I have been pleased to see us able to use the new car park for a couple school events, however with a large number of construction vehicles still on site, we will not open the new car park for daily operations including drop off and pick up routines until next term. I will send you more information as to what those routines will look like from next term. In the meantime, thank you again for all your patience and understanding through our temporary parking measures over the past while.
Administration Block Refurbishment
The construction rolls on at PCS. From next term you will notice some significant changes to our administration block and Library. We are in the process of moving our entire administration building into temporary spaces so a full reconfigure and renovation can occur of our existing facility during the remainder of 2025. This will impact our entire office staff who are all relocating over the course of this week, however the Front Office staff will remain in the current location for the remainder of this week. I will advise you of new locations for the Front Office, Principal’s Office and Library before we commence Term 2. This is another exciting project that upon completion will significantly enhance the experience of staff, students and parents engaging with our administration and staff facilities. I will look forward to bringing you more progress updates as the project progresses.
Leadership Changes in Primary School
In leadership news, our Year 3-6 Coordinator, Mr Matthew Denmead will be stepping out of his leadership role at the end of this term. Mr Denmead has done a fantastic job leading his team over the past 12 months or so, and we thank and congratulate him for all he has been able to achieve. Mr Denmead will continue on as our Year 5 teacher from Term 2. I am incredibly grateful to have Mr Demead on staff at PCS. He has been a tireless worker for our school community within his leadership and classroom teaching roles. Thank you Mr Demead for all you have done and continue to do to help make PCS the amazing place it is. I will update you on any leadership appointments as they occur.
As we draw near to Easter and spend time in the Easter story, I am again filled with a profound sense of gratitude. It is hard to believe that Jesus, the son of God, would come and die a cruel death on a cross for you and me. The significance of this event is unparalleled to any other in history. Easter is the moment where a universe creating God would demonstrate the enormity of His love for us through offering His own Son as a sacrifice, so that we might be saved.
God sees you as unique, valuable and precious to Him. There is nothing you can do to make God love you more and nothing to make Him love you less. There is now a great purpose attached to our lives through what Jesus did on the cross. That should leave all of us humbled, grateful and filled with hope.
As we head towards Easter, use this time to stop and think what it is you are grateful for. Between family, friends and our wonderful school community, I’m feeling pretty grateful about now, and I hope you are too.
Happy Easter PCS and see you in Term 2!
Glen
