The Power of Testimony

This year we have heard some powerful testimonies from our amazing PCS staff in our morning staff devotion time. There have been staff share how Jesus has been weaved into their childhood experiences, favourite TV shows, holidays with family and friends, coming to know Jesus personally, miracles they have seen, having time to rest and renew in Christ and lots of stories about fishing.

Testimony is such a powerful tool that shows what God has done in our lives and continues to do. It is Good News presented through an experience. Testimony inspirers, encourages, gives us hope, strengthens us, gives us comfort, fosters connection with others, helps heal, brings forgiveness and brings us closer together. Sharing what God has done can be uplifting and make us shed tears at the same time. It can open our eyes to see things from a different perspective.

As one staff member said this week in her devotion, “God does not promise all sunshine, lollipops and unicorns”. Life is not perfect, and let’s face it, life can be really really hard sometimes. It is the hard times that makes us appreciate the moments of peace and the times of joy in our lives.

Testimony reminds me of the saying sharing is caring. When we share the Good News of what God is doing in our lives (or even those things we are struggling with) and how his faithfulness endures forever, we are connecting with others. We are saying that life is not always easy and there is only one sure thing in life…… God offers us forgiveness freely and unconditional love. He wants us to be part of His family. He is just waiting for us to humbly ask Him to be Lord of our lives.

And what does the Lord require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
