On Thursday 22 October stage 2 students left PCS at 9:30am and headed to Forbes NSW to visit ‘Sahara Park’ (Leanne Smiths Farm). First we experienced a ride on the back of a trailer which the students thoroughly enjoyed. Then we were asked to walk through a field of Oats so experience the feel of it and watch from a distance of how they stored their hay to protect it from the weather. The students were shown each of the steps involved in the process of how they make hay (temperatures, moisture content, weighing etc).
Students were given the opportunity to feed Leanne’s horses and lambs and received a tour of her stables.
We were so blessed to be invited to Leannes home and have morning tea and lunch before we left the farm to return to school.
The excursion is connected to our Science lessons where we are learning about agriculture and sustainability.
What a wonderful excursion we had!
