In music, Year 6 have recently started learning about the ukulele and how to play it.
We have learnt that the ukulele was designed in Hawaii after the Hawaiians saw a small guitar-like instrument, called a machete, that sailors from the Madeira Island of Portugal showed them. They re-designed the instrument so it was easier to learn and play.
We have learnt the C and F chords and can play two songs already.
We are also learning some music notation such as the names and durations of notes and rests.
